A New Chapter: ICCO integrates with Cordaid
15 December the Supervisory Boards of ICCO and Cordaid signed the official contract to become one organization as per the 1st of January 2021. The name of the new organization is Cordaid.

Sybren Attema, former CEO of ICCO: “We are very happy to take this step. For some time ICCO was searching for a partner to continue to fulfill its mission. In December 2019 a letter of intent was signed with Cordaid and from that moment on all steps have been taken to launch the new organization. We are very proud to launch the new Cordaid”
By combining the infrastructure, networks, and knowledge of ICCO and Cordaid, the new organization can increase its scope and scale to respond better to increasing challenges in the global South. Having emerged from Christian social traditions, Cordaid is a founding member of Caritas and the new organization also aspires to become a member of ACT Alliance, like ICCO has been.
On January 1, 2021, the staff of ICCO, will be employed by Cordaid. The ICCO head office is moving from Utrecht to The Hague. The management and Supervisory Boards of both organizations will be one. The Board of Directors will consist of Kees Zevenbergen (CEO), Sybren Attema (COO) and Lorena Paz Quintero (CFO).
In the next two years, the integration will be further developed and joint country offices in the global south will also be set up step by step. During this period the ICCO name and logo will still be used.
Sybren: “ICCO and Cordaid first met 60 years ago. At that time, our founder Jo Verkuyl and Father Gerard van Rijsbergen worked together and were able to persuade the Dutch government to make money for development cooperation available through private organizations. Now our roads converge again. We sign up for the same mission, for value-driven cooperation, aimed at inclusive development and local ownership, and against fragmentation in the sector. “
