Affordable Food for Refugees in North Iraq
This bakery nearby Amedi in North Iraq is established by ICCOâs partner LWF providing people in the camp with fresh bread. The prices are low to make sure that people can afford to buy the bread. Moreover the costs of the bakery are low so it will stay sustainable without subsidy. ICCO financed two bakeries in the camp.
ICCO and Kerk in Actie try to give aid to the many displaced families in North Iraq. Food items are given to 15.000 displaced people, with a strong focus on the most vulnerable families. We also support small livelihood initiatives for displaced families. Through cash for work activities 113 heads of household were able to earn an income. 290 families where supported in making their shelters weather proof. Also social support was given to 1.742 people, helping them to cope with the difficult circumstances they have to live in.
