Barista Workshop for Coffee Orchards and Restaurants in Nepal
Hamro Coffee, a project of ICCO funded by the European Union, recently organized a Barista training for coffee orchards, restaurant and tea shop owners of six districts, along the Annapurna Base Camp route and Mardi Trekking trail in Nepal. The objective is to develop the coffee culture in the domestic market in Nepal.
The EU intervention helps to introduce the coffee tourism model and integrate the ‘coffee experience’ into hiking and trekking packages. This is being done in collaboration with destination stakeholders. The aim of the project is to create alternative sources of income for small-holder coffee farmers and increase awareness of Nepali specialty coffee among international and domestic tourists.
