The current project is built on the accomplishments from a previous projects which implemented an integral strategy against sexual violence in Guatemala. With this project, Shelter Association has decided to continue focusing their efforts between may and december of 2016 in Amate (Campo 2, Campo 3 and Nahua) and Morales (Benque El Amatio, Nueva Esperanza and Picuatz) in the Izabal department. Integral attention actions will take place in Guatemala City, at the Lazos de Amor Shelter.

ICCO and Kerk in Actie has provided support to the Shelter Association to strengthen their intervention strategies, especially the strategy related to prevention and lobbying through concrete and coordinated actions with Protection Systems and networks at local, department and national levels.

The organization has implemented with success previous projects, achieving all results with transparency (for which they had their first institutional audit in 2015).

During 2015, the organization also contributed with consolidating the ICCO - Kerk in Actie strategy for 2016-2020 called "Violence prevention with indigenous and afrodescendent youth in Guatemala and Nicaragua". In 2016, they are presenting a project proposal in line with the ICCO Kerk in Actie strategy to contribute in strengthening indigenous adolescents and youth leadership in Guatemala.
