Nepal Early Recovery and Rehabilitation Project (NERRP)

Start project:
  • 2015

NERRP was part of ICCO's early recovery and rehabilitation effort targeting the most vulnerable households affected by the quake. ICCO co-implemented this project together with ISARD and Nepal Trust in Sindhupalchowk, UMN in Dhading and CCDN in Makwanpur. Major focus of the project was to support families rebuild their livelihoods through the restoration of socio-economic infrastructure, re-establishing local market actors and increasing access to finance for on and off-farm income generation.

NERRP was ICCO’s response towards a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on 25th April, 2015. The project started from 1st July 2015 and ended on 25th April 2016 and was part of the bigger program under ACT Appeal where, together with ICCO, other ACT Nepal members like LWF, DCA, LWR and FCA implemented projects in the most earthquake-affected districts for early recovery and rehabilitation with their local partners. ICCO co-implemented this project with United Mission to Nepal (UMN) in Dhading district.

The overall goal of this project was to recover and improve the income generation of 10,004 households with the least resilience capacity. The major focus of the project was on livelihood recovery and early recovery of social-economic infrastructures. Gender balance, disability inclusion and inclusion of marginalized groups were major cross cutting issues for this project.
