Start project:

  • Asociación Colombiana de Gastronomía

In Colombia, disadvantaged youth from socially problematic neighborhoods will be trained as qualified cooks to promote healthy, traditional and local cuisine. By doing so, the demand for organic and local food will increase and small farmers in the area will receive more money/fair prices for their products. As the result, disadvantaged youth will have the opportunity to find jobs as qualified cooks or work as entrepreneurs. As well, local consumers will have access to affordable/healthy food.

Manqa in Aguablanca - Cali is a program integrated on an ICCO bigger country program related to Manqa schools. This ICCO program was initially funded by the RVO and now is funded by Porticus in Cali.

This project is a very important way for youngsters to build personal, technical and entrepreneur capacities at different levels related to its culture and also to knowledge and best practice, using and promoting local Colombian gastronomic products, delivered by local organizations of small peasants producers.

ACOGA is the association of local restaurants in Cali and has its own private gastronomy school.
