Rights and opportunities for adolescent and youth in Nicaragua
The current project builds on the accomplishments from previous projects that have received support from Kerk in Actie ...
This project works with a violence prevention strategic approach, based on popular education methodologies, to achieve recognition of rights, and contribute to erradicate different manifestations of violence. Activities are carried out in three neighborhoods of the peripheral zone of Bilwi (North Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua).
Prevention of violence seeks to create spaces for the collective reflection of adolescents and young people (women and men), on situations of gender inequality at home, school and community. It will also provide interventions in crisis at a primary level to adolescents and youths that experience social vulnerability within their families.
The work focuses on two lines of action:
- Strengthening of volunteer work in the neighborhoods.
- Involving new and diverse social actors.
To develop this project, ICCO works with the Tesis Association, a local organization specialized in violence prevention and social work at marginalized communities.
