The Public Private Partnership (PPP) shea aims to contribute to increase sustainable income, gender equality, and resilience in the main shea producing areas of Mali. The Shea Value Chain represents a source of income for at least 75% of rural women. The development of this value chain will greatly affect the livelihood of the women. With an initial target 12,000 rural women in 3 years, this initiative is currently working with over 25,000 women and has already generated sales revenues of more than 1 million Euros.
Zones of intervention: This initiative takes place in the southern regions of Mali, namely (the region of Sgou, the region of Sikasso, the region of Kayes, and the region of Koulikoro)
Partners: ICCO, ICRAF (the Worlds Agroforestry Centre), Olvea BF (private French company), cooperatives, BDS providers.
Expected results:
1- More than 25,000 women see their income and condition improve
2- The cooperatives will all have access to ECOCERTs organic certification
3- The sales generated from this program are expected to reach $1.5 between the cooperatives and the private companies. This is a substantial amount of money for cooperatives operating in rural Mali.
4- The cooperatives have access to warehouses to store their products
