Rights and opportunities for adolescent and youth in Nicaragua
The current project builds on the accomplishments from previous projects that have received support from Kerk in Actie ...
CEIBO RL has been present in Alamikamgba since 2013 and has excellent coordination with the authorities of Instituto 10 de Abril, with local organizations such as Christian Medical Action (AMC), health ministry and community leadership. The project will strengthen miskitu indigenous adolescents’ leadership in Alamikamgba throughout 2017.
The "Tininiska" Network was created during 2016 and needs to strengthen its knowledge and skills in cultural promotion, to continue to develop awareness-raising actions in its community that promote non-violent ways of relating between men and women. Actions will be implemented with teenagers of the High School 10 de Abril (INDA), because the members of the "Tininiska" Network for 2017 have already gone from primary to secondary education. Artistic and cultural methodologies will be used, combining the teaching of dance, theater and music techniques with human rights knowledge with a focus on gender, violence prevention, teenage pregnancy, sexual abuse and the importance of adopting new masculinities that allow them to relate in equality and equity. It is expected that the Network will grow in number, integrating other adolescents interested in participating in the different activities promoted from the project. In addition, sports leagues will be formed, thus promoting the sport as spaces for non-violent recreation and participation.
Expected outcomes will include: violence has been prevented in the Alamikangba community, through the use of art and sport and miskitus adolescents have spaces of participation in the socio-political life of Alamikangba.
